Rodney Buse's work is divided between a limited number of consultancy assignments, supporting national and regional charities and social enterprises and providing mentoring and coaching support to executives and trustees delivering organisational effectiveness.
Originally qualifying as a Chartered Certified Accountant, Rodney went on to do a MBA at Cranfield, before becoming Chief Executive of a number of businesses. His interests in people development led him to become the Group Personnel Director of the WHSmith Group employing 40,000 staff.
Rodney Buse began as a trustee in his thirties, and subsequently became Chair of ActionAid an overseas development, a charity that grew from an annual income of £2m to £60m, 'giving people choices' At the same time he chaired the Executive of the Industrial Society, 'unlocking peoples' potential'.
Subsequently Rodney chaired the Guidance Council an umbrella body setting quality standards and delivering support to career guidance professionals throughout England and Wales. He also chaired the Quality Standards Task Group for the charity and community sector.
Other trustee roles have included, chair of Charity Trustee Networks, Chair of ICAN, an education charity supporting young people with speech and language difficulties, Vice Chair of the umbrella body, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and trustee of the Charities Aid Foundation, Charity Evaluation Services and Childhope, a charity supporting street children in the developing world.
